LAPS® – A typical Step-by-Step process
LAPS® was designed with animal welfare at its core. By gradually reducing atmospheric pressure in a controlled environment, birds lose consciousness calmly and consistently without the stress, handling, or discomfort associated with traditional methods. This controlled, non-invasive process eliminates pre-stun shocks, reduces injuries, and provides a peaceful environment for birds before stunning.
Leading animal welfare organisations, including the American Humane Association and the USDA, have recognised LAPS® as a humane, scientifically validated method for live poultry stunning.

On arrival at the processing plant, birds remain in their transport drawers and modules — no unloading, tipping, or manual handling is required. The ProLoad System safely conveys loaded modules directly to the LAPS® chamber, where they’re smoothly introduced to the stunning process.
Once the LAPS® cycle is complete, the system automatically removes drawers from the transport modules and transfers them onward to the next stage of processing, ensuring a continuous, consistent workflow.
